2 tbsp. water
4 tbsp. granulated sugar
2 1/3 c. powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 c. Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil water and granulated sugar together for a few minutes. Mix powdered sugar, salt and egg together. Blend with syrup. Add Crisco and vanilla. Beat until creamy.

For a creamy chocolate icing: Stir in 2 squares melted chocolate. Makes icing for two 9 inch layers.
