BREAKFAST CAKE 
2 c. light brown sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk

Rub the first 4 ingredients together to form crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup crumbs. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add with egg to remainder of crumbs. Beat only until all crumbs are moistened. Bake in 9 x 12 inch oblong pan, sprinkle reserved crumbs over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
