MOM'S DRIED APPLE STACK CAKE 
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. buttermilk

Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs. Mix and sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk to mixture. Knead to cookie dough consistency. Pinch off small ball and roll thin as a knife blade. Cut to fit 8 inch pan. Bake in 375 oven. Divide dough into 5 or 6 balls. Roll on wax paper. Cut to fit cake pan and turn over holding together with wax paper.

FILLING:

1 1/2 lbs. dried apples
1 tsp. allspice
1 1/2 c. sugar

Put fruit in pan and cover with cold water. Bring to boil. Add sugar and allspice, cook 15 or 20 minutes. Mash with potato masher. Cool and spread between layers. Let stand at least 24 hours in a cool place.
