PIE CRUST | |
2 c. sifted flour 1 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 2/3 c. shortening 4 to 5 tbsp. icy cold water Sift flour, salt, sugar together. With fork or 2 knives cut shortening into flour until pieces are about the size of rice kernels. Sprinkle water evenly over mixture, while tossing gently and mixing with fork until all parts are evenly dampened. Form into a ball, cut in half for 2 single 8 or 9 inch pies or 1 double (deep dish) crust. Freezes well until ready to fill. |
