PEPPERMINT CANDY 
2 c. sugar
3/4 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 tsp. peppermint extract

Stir together all the ingredients, except extract. Boil until it reaches 300 degrees F. on candy thermometer or when it cracks in cold water. Pour into a buttered cookie sheet, cut into squares.
