AUNT EMILY'S CAKE | |
18th century recipe from the "Pocumtuc Housewife" (1805). 1 cup (2 sticks) butter 2 cups sugar 1 cup milk 4 cups all-purpose flour 3 eggs 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. cream of tartar lemon extract a little nutmeg a dash brandy 1 cup raisins 1 cup citron, sliced fine. Mix together well. Bake at 350°F for 55 minutes. |
