MRS. ADELBERT'S DEVILS FOOD CAKE 
1/2 cake chocolate
1/2 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. soft butter
1/2 scant c. milk
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt

Cook chocolate, 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup sugar and egg yolk until thickened on medium heat. While hot, add nuts and vanilla. When cool, add 1 cup sugar, soft butter, 1/2 scant cup milk, 2 eggs, flour (sifted with the baking powder), and salt. Pour into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
