GERMAN HOT COLE SLAW 
1 lg. head cabbage, shredded
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. celery seed
3/4 c. Wesson oil
1 onion, sliced in thin rings
2 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. dry mustard
1 c. vinegar

Alternate cabbage and onion rings in layers in a large bowl. Pour 1 cup sugar over this. Mix 2 teaspoons sugar, salt, mustard, celery seed, vinegar, and oil. Heat and stir; when boiling, pour over cabbage. Cover and let stand 4 hours.
