AMERICAN PLUM PUDDING 
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup raisins or dates
1 1/2 cups raw cranberries, chopped
1 cup ground suet, lard or shortening
1 cup ground carrots
1 cup ground potato

Sift flour, salt, spices and sugar; add remaining ingredients and mix all together.

Put into a buttered mold or 2-pound coffee can (fill 2/3 full) and steam for three hours.

Serve with sauce:

1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup whipping cream

Cream butter and sugar; add two egg yolks, then fold in two beaten egg whites. Whip cream and fold in. Flavor with a little sugar and vanilla, rum or brandy.

Can be made in an Instant Pot or Crockpot.
