CHIP AHOY CHOCOLATE COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. pecans
1 tsp. salt
1 lg. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream shortening, butter, and sugars in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, soda, pecans, salt, and chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven until light brown, for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet. For a softer, rounder cookie, add 1/2 cup flour more.
