GRANDMA'S FRUIT CAKE 
1/3 lb. brown sugar
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 lb. flour
1/3 lb. prunes, pitted
1/3 lb. figs
3/4 lb. raisins
3/4 lb. currants
1/2 lb. citron
4 eggs
Candied cherries (1-2 sm. pkgs.)
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/3 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 c. grape juice

Roll fruit well in flour and spice ingredients. Cream butter and sugar. Mix eggs and juice together. Add dry ingredients, fruit, and liquids to butter and mix well.

Pour in greased loaf pan and bake in slow oven (275-300 degrees) 1 1/2-2 hours. This is so good you may want to triple it to the original recipe and give it as gifts. (I do.)
