PEANUT WHIRLS 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. chunky peanut butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. milk
1 1/4 c. flour
1 (6 oz.) chocolate chips

Cream shortening, sugar, peanut butter and egg. Add vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk.

Melt chocolate chips over hot water and cool slightly. Spread on rolled cookie dough. Roll jelly roll fashion and chill 1/2 hour. Using a sharp knife, slice 1/8 inch thick. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
