ORANGE DATE - NUT BREAD 
2 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1/4 c. grated orange peel
2/3 c. dates, sliced & pitted
1 egg
1/3 c. orange juice
2/3 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tbsp. butter, melted

Mix flour, baking powder, soda and salt; sift 3 times. Add nuts, orange peel and dates; mix. Beat egg well and add remaining ingredients to beaten egg. Mix thoroughly. Add all at once to flour mixture and blend lightly (about 25 strokes). Pour batter into greased pan (10 x 3 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches) and let stand 20 minutes. Bake in preheated 325 degree oven about 1 hour.
