BAKED BEANS 
2 c. Northern beans (or pinto beans)
1 sm. onion, chopped
1/4 lb. pork or fat bacon pieces
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 c. ketchup
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. molasses
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 1/2 c. meat broth

Wash and soak beans overnight, drain, add 6 cups cold water, simmer over low heat 1 hour, drain. Place beans in bean pot, add seasonings. Fry salt pork or bacon until brown. Place 1 1/2 cups water with drippings, pour this over beans and stir. Cover and bake at 300 degrees for 2-3 hours.
