HERSHEY BAR CAKE 
8 (5 cent) Hershey bars (without nuts)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate over warm water and cool. Cream sugar, butter and Crisco. Add eggs, flavoring and buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda, and salt; add to shortening mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate until blended. Pour batter into a well greased and floured tube pan. Bake in slow oven, 300 degrees, approximately 1 1/2 hours. Remove from pan while still hot. Place under a tightly fitting cover until thoroughly cool. Glaze.

SWEET CHOCOLATE GLAZE:

1 pkg. (4 oz.) German sweet chocolate
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 tbsp. Crisco
1/2 c. water
Dash of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate and Crisco in water over low heat. Combine sugar and salt in medium bowl. Gradually stir in chocolate mixture, blend well. Add vanilla. For thinner glaze, add a small amount of hot water. Spread over top of cooled cake and allow to run down sides.
