MUFFIN DOUGHNUTS 
2 c. enriched flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/3 c. toasted coarsely chopped walnut meats
1/2 c. milk

Sift flour; measure. Sift again with baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Cream shortening; add sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat well.

Combine nutmeats with dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Fill small well-greased muffin pans 2/3 full and bake in moderately hot oven (400 degrees) for 20 minutes, or until done. Remove from pans. Dip in melted butter and roll in mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Makes 16 small muffins.
