APPLE DUMPLINGS 
12 med. apples, peeled & cored

PASTRY:

1 tbsp. sugar
3 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. Crisco
1/2 c. water
3/4 tsp. baking powder

Mix ingredients and divide into 3 parts. Roll each part and cut in quarters. Place apple on each section. Fill each cavity with 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar, 1/8 teaspoons cinnamon and 1/2 pat of butter. Wrap pastry around apples and place in 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Combine syrup ingredients and bring to a boil. Pour over dumplings. Sprinkle with extra sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes until golden brown.

SYRUP:

1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. water
3/4 stick butter
1 tbsp. cinnamon
