CLASSIC LASAGNA | |
6 whole wheat lasagna noodles 1/2 lb extra-lean ground beef, or ground turkey breast 1 cup chopped onion 2 minced garlic cloves 1 (26 oz jar) tomato-basil spaghetti sauce 1 (15 oz container) fat-free cottage cheese 2 large egg whites 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil, divided 2 cups shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese Cook noodles as directed. Drain. Rinse with cold water, drain again. Set aside. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large saucepan, combine beef, onion, and garlic, cook over medium-high heat. Stir frequently to break up meat. Add spaghetti sauce, bring to boil. Reduce heat, simmer 5 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine cottage cheese, egg whites, 2 tablespoons basil. Mix well. Spoon 1 cup spaghetti sauce over bottom of a 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Layer 3 noodles over sauce. Spoon cottage cheese mix over noodles. Top with half of remaining spaghetti sauce and 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Top with remaining noodles and sauce. Cover with foil, bake 30 minutes or until heated through. Uncover, sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese and 2 tablespoons basil. Bake 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Calories-252 per slice. fat- 7 g. Saturated fat- 3 g.
