1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt, then add to butter mixture. Form into balls the size of walnuts and put on baking sheet. Make indentation in each with thumb. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool add the icing.

ICING:

1/2 cube butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. powdered sugar
Coloring

Melt butter, add vanilla, powdered sugar and coloring. Drop small amount of icing in each hole in cookie. Makes about 8 dozen.
