OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. quick cooking oats
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Pour boiling water over oats. Mix well. Cream butter and sugars. Beat in eggs, stir in soaked oats. Sift dry ingredients. Stir into oatmeal mixture. Turn into greased 9x13x2 inch pan. Spread with topping (after cooled) and broil until golden, 2 minutes. Bake cake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

BROILED TOPPING:

1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped nuts
6 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Combine 6 ingredients. Heat until bubbly. Stir in vanilla.
