FLUFFY WHITE COOKED FROSTING 
3 egg whites
6 tbsp. light corn syrup
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. vanilla

In double boiler, combine first 4 ingredients. Cook over rapidly boiling water. Beat constantly with mixer (about 4 minutes until it peaks). Remove from heat. Add vanilla; beat 2 more minutes. Cool slightly and frost cake.

My Mom made this recipe for most her cakes 70 or 80 years ago. I made it when I was first married but it seemed so difficult then. Now that I'm 78 I made it for the first time in years and it was so easy. I could only use one beater as the second one was not inserting. It's delicious. One question: WHAT IS THE 5TH INGREDIENT? 5th ingredient is "vanilla extract". I prefer the extract from Madagascar.
