POMANDERS 
1 sm. thin - skinned orange
1 box or jar (about 1 1/8 oz.) 2 - 3 tsp. mixed spices mace, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ground cloves

With skewer or tip of a small knife, starting 1/4 inch from top, pierce entire surface of fruit at 1/8 inch intervals to 1/4 inch from bottom. Insert cloves in punctures. Sprinkle with spice mixture to cover completely so no peel shows. Store uncovered in cool dry place 2 to 3 weeks. Mold and slight odor may develop; both disappear with drying. Tie ribbon around the fruit, leaving excess on top for hanging. Make one.
