MAMA GRAM'S HUSH PUPPIES 
1 1/2 c. cornmeal
1 1/2 c. water
1/3 c. milk
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. grated onion
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. Gold Medal flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. sugar, if desired

Cook cornmeal and water, stirring until stiff. Remove from heat and add milk, oil and onion. Stir until smooth. Stir in beaten eggs then sifted flour and dry ingredients. Add to cornmeal mixture and mix thoroughly. Fry in hot oil (deep fry). Makes 24 to 30.
