CORN PONE PIE 
1 lb. ground beef
1/3 c. onions, chopped
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. chili powder
1 c. canned or stewed tomatoes
15 oz. can pinto beans, drained

Combine meat, onions, sugar, chili powder and saute in a little butter until meat is brown. Add tomatoes and beans and simmer 15 minutes. Place meat mixture in 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Spread cornbread batter on top of meat. Bake 450 degrees for 25 minutes.

CORN BREAD BATTER:

1/3 c. corn meal
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. cooking oil

Sift dry ingredients in bowl. Add milk, egg and oil. Mix well and spread over meat.
