BLACK WALNUT CAKE 
1 1/4 c. light brown sugar
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. Crisco
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. black walnuts

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs. Add all dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Beat until smooth and add walnuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes.

ICING:

2 tbsp. water
1 egg
4 1/2 tbsp. sugar
2 1/3 c. 10X sugar
2/3 c. Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil water and sugar together until sugar dissolves. Mix 10X sugar and egg and blend with syrup and Crisco. Beat until creamy.
