CHOCOLATE BLACK OIL CAKE 
3/4 c. salad oil
1 c. buttermilk
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. baking soda
Scant 1/2 c. cocoa, unsifted
1 c. boiling water

Combine oil, buttermilk, egg yolks and vanilla. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda and cocoa; add. Add 1 cup boiling water. Mix and pour into oblong pan and bake at 325°F for 45-50 minutes.

ICING:

1 stick butter
8 tbsp. milk (evaporated or cream)
1 c. broken pecans or walnuts
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar
2 tsp. maple flavor

Put in boiler and bring to a boil; remove and add 1 box powdered sugar, 2 teaspoons maple flavor and 1 cup broken nuts (pecans or walnuts). Mix well and pour over hot cake.
