3/4 c. sifted all purpose flour 1 c. granulated sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2 eggs 1 c. chopped dates 1 c. chopped walnuts Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; add beaten eggs, dates and nuts; mix thoroughly. Spread in greased 8" or 9" square pan. Bake at 325 degrees for about 35 minutes, until golden. Cool slightly and sprinkle top with powdered sugar. Cut into squares or whatever size you wish. VARIATION: After cooling slightly, you can cut pieces and roll them into balls and then roll in powdered sugar. NOTE: These are delicious and are loved by young and old alike. Makes approximately 2 dozen. |
