BREAD AND BUTTER CUCUMBER PICKLE 
4 qts. thinly sliced cucumbers
2 c. thinly sliced onions
4 c. cider vinegar
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1/2 c. salt
4 c. sugar
1 tsp. turmeric powder
1 tsp. celery seed

Sprinkle cucumbers and onions with 1/2 cup salt. Let stand 3 hours. Mix all other ingredients; bring to boil. Add cucumbers and onions that have been thoroughly drained. Cook 3 or 4 minutes until color changes. Do not boil. Pack in hot sterilized jars and seal at once.

Terrific recipe! I have left the dukes and onions in ice overnight and canned the next morning. Also, water bathed for 10 minutes to be extra careful.
