BRIOCHE 
1 pkg. yeast
2 cups flour
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1-1/2 cups water
2 tbsp. butter
3 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
3 tsp. cinnamon
raisins

Warm 1-1/2 cups water and 2 tablespoons butter to lukewarm. Mix yeast with 1 cup sugar. Add water mixture to yeast and stir to dissolve.

Add flour and beat at medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes. Add eggs; beat 2 minutes. Add raisins. Stir in 3 more cups flour (will be sticky). Set aside in a greased bowl and let rise to double.

Mix cinnamon and sugar. Melt butter and spread on dough that you have patted out into a square. Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar on top and roll like a jelly roll. Cut into slices about 3/4 inch thick and arrange in pan. Let rise and bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes. Glaze with a powdered sugar glaze if desired.
