1/4 lb. butter 1 c. sugar 4 egg yolks 1 tsp. vanilla 3 tbsp. milk 1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 4 egg whites 1/2 tsp. salt Cinnamon sugar and chopped nuts, optional Cream 1/4 pound (1 stick) butter with 1 cup sugar. Add 4 egg yolks; beat. Add one teaspoon vanilla and 3 tablespoons milk; beat. Add 1 cup flour with 1 teaspoon baking powder; beat. Beat 4 egg whites until stiff with 1/2 teaspoon salt. Reserve about 1 cup of beaten egg whites. Fold the rest of egg whites into the batter. Spread on greased 11 x 14 inch cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Spread reserved egg whites on the batter lightly with a butter knife. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and nuts if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cut while hot. |
