KENTUCKY BUTTER CAKE 
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. softened butter
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla

BUTTER SAUCE:

3/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. water
2 tsp. vanilla or 1-2 tsp. rum flavoring
1/3 c. butter

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Grease (not oil) 10 inch tube pan or 12 cup fluted tube pan. (Lightly spoon flour into measuring cups; level off.)

In large bowl, combine all cake ingredients; beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour into greased pan, baking at 325 degrees for 60-70 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

In saucepan, combine sauce ingredients until butter melts. Do Not Boil. Prick cake 10-12 times with long tined fork. Slowly, pour hot sauce over cake. Cool before removing from pan. Just before serving sprinkle with powdered sugar.
