ITALIAN BREAD STICKS | |
2 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/3 c. Crisco shortening 3/4 c. milk 1 egg white, slightly beaten 2 tbsp. Italian seasoning In a bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in Crisco until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the Italian seasoning and milk. Stir just enough so dough holds together. On lightly floured surface knead the dough 15 to 20 times. Roll dough to 12 x 6 x 1/4 inch thick rectangles. Cut into 24 strips 1/2 inch wide, then roll the strips in cylinders. Place on a greased baking sheet 1 inch apart. Brush the sticks with the egg white and sprinkle sesame seed or Parmesan cheese on top. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. |
