WILLIAMSBURG ORANGE CAKE 
2 3/4 c. cake flour or 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. shortening
3 eggs (1/2 to 2/3 c.)
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. golden raisins, cut up
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
1 tbsp. orange peel

ORANGE FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
4 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
4 to 5 tbsp. orange juice or orange liqueur
1 tbsp. grated orange rind

Measure all cake ingredients and mix on low speed for 1/2 minute. Beat 3 minutes at medium speed (high on hand mixer). Spread in 3 greased 8-inch round layer pans. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes or in an oblong 9x13 inch pan for 45 minutes. Frost when cool with Orange Frosting.
