1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 tbsp. milk
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Cut in shortening (oleo). Blend in egg, milk and vanilla. Roll out to 1/16 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate to suit taste. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
