GRANDMA'S SCONES | |
2/3 c. butter 1/4 c. sugar 1 egg 1/3 c. milk 1 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 c. quick oatmeal 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. golden raisins 1/2 c. chopped walnuts 1 tsp. vanilla Combine butter and sugar. Blend in egg and milk. Add combined dry ingredients, raisins and nuts. Add vanilla. Mix until just moist. On a floured board, pat dough into a 12 x 9 inch rectangle. Cut into 12 (3 inch) squares. Cut each square in half diagonally. Place scones on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve with honey or additional butter. |
