ONION DISH 
3-4 lg. Spanish onions (white)
2 1/2 c. white sugar
4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. celery seed
1 1/2 c. vinegar
1 1/2 c. water
1 1/2 c. mayonnaise

Slice onions and place in a flat glass bowl. Boil vinegar, sugar, water and salt. Pour over onions. Let stand 5 hours; drain. Add mayonnaise and celery seed. Let stand at least 2 hours. Store in a glass jar. You may also use cucumbers instead of onions for this dish.
