CALIFORNIA WALNUT CHOCOLATE
COOKIES
 
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, unbeaten
2 tbsp. milk
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Melt 1/2 package chocolate chips over hot water. Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla together until fluffy. Blend in melted chocolate and egg. Beat well. STIR IN MILK. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in remaining chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonful about 2 inches apart. Bake at 325 degrees or 350 degrees for 13 or 15 minutes. VERY good!
