1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. milk
Chocolate kisses

Preheat oven to 375°F. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Cream shortening, peanut butter, and sugars until light and fluffy. Stir in egg, milk, and vanilla until well blended. Stir in flour mixture and mix well. Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake in oven for 8 minutes. Remove an top with chocolate kiss and return to oven for 2 more minutes. Cool on wire racks.

Makes about 3 dozen.
