AEBLEKAGE OR APPLE CAKE | |
2 c. applesauce (homemade is best) 1 1/2 c. crumbs (zwieback or toasted bread) 1/4 c. butter 2 tbsp. sugar 1 pt. whip cream, whipped Mix sugar and crumbs. Brown the crumbs in butter over slow heat until crisp and brown. Do not burn. Place a layer of crumbs in the bottom of a buttered bowl; cover with a layer of applesauce, repeat and end with a layer of crumbs on top. Refrigerate for several hours. Spread whipped cream on top and serve. This is probably Denmark's most popular dessert. |
