OLD FASHION "JUMBO RAISIN
COOKIES"
 
2 c. raisins
1 c. water

Place raisins in water and boil 3 minutes. Cool - do not drain.

3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Mix and add:

1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream:

1 3/4 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco

Add:

2 eggs

Beat well. Stir in raisins with liquid, gradually adding flour mixture.

Add:

1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Drop by tablespoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes at 375 degrees. They get softer when stored. These are a soft moist cookie.
