JAM CAKE 
3 c. applesauce
2 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
4 c. all-purpose flour
4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 c. jam
1 c. nuts
1 c. dates
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves together. Mix remaining ingredients together in separate bowl. Slowly add flour mixture.

Bake in three 9-inch round cake pans at 350°F until done. Ice with Caramel Icing.

For Caramel Icing:

1 box brown sugar
1 stick butter
1 c. milk
1/2 c. Karo syrup
2 c. white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil these ingredients approximately 6 minutes.
