GRANDMOTHER'S CHOCOLATE CREAM
PIE
 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
1/2 stick butter
4 egg yolks, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together first 4 ingredients. Gradually add milk to keep smooth. Add egg yolks and butter. Cook over low heat until thickened (in microwave 8 minutes on high or until boils, stir every 4 minutes). Cool and add vanilla. Pour into baked and cooled pie shell. Top with meringue.

MERINGUE:

4 egg whites
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites in glass bowl with cream of tartar and salt until stiff. Add sugar and vanilla until stiff. Bake pie with meringue at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
