1 1/2 to 2 lbs. flank steak 1/4 c. sesame seeds 1/4 c. corn oil 1/4 c. soy sauce 1/4 c. dark Karo syrup 1 sm. onion, sliced 1 clove garlic, crushed 1 tsp. minced fresh ginger Remove tendons and trim fat from steak. Mix all ingredients and marinate steak overnight, turning once. Before broiling, scrape all onions and seeds from steak -- pour marinade through strainer, saving juices and solids separately. Place meat on broiler about 6 inches from flame and cook for about 8 minutes. Turn meat over, pour the juices over the meat and take all seeds and onions and coat the meat if desired. Put it back into the broiler for about another 8 minutes. Slice thinly on the diagonal and serve with the pan juices. Serves 4 to 6. |
