OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal

Blend:

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1/4 c. shortening or butter

Pour water over oatmeal, stir and cool to lukewarm. Add blended ingredients; mix. Add cooled mixture and the following:

1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Mix well and pour into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

COCONUT FROSTING FOR OATMEAL CAKE:

6 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. milk
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. coconut
2/3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook until thick, stirring constantly, about 7 to 10 minutes. Frost warm cake.
