DELUXE FRIED CHICKEN 
2 to 2 1/2 lb. frying pieces
1 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 eggs
2 tbsp. water
1/2 tsp. each garlic powder & ground oregano
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
2 c. all vegetable shortening

Rinse chicken and pat dry. Combine flour, salt, paprika and pepper in plastic bag. Beat eggs and water in shallow dish. Combine garlic powder, oregano and cayenne in small bowl. Heat shortening to 375 degrees in deep fry pan. Shake chicken, a few pieces at a time, in flour mixture to coat. Dip in egg then shake again in flour. Fry chicken for 10 minutes, then turn for an additional 20 minutes. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
