MICHIGAN BAKED BEANS (SERVES 10) 
2 lb. navy beans
9 c. water
1 lb. salt pot, diced bacon or ham
3 tart apples, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
1 med. chopped onion
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. molasses
3 tsp. dry mustard
3 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 tsp. pepper

Wash and soak beans overnight in the water. Add the salt pork and cook about 20 minutes. Pour into bean pot, add remaining ingredients.

Cover and bake at 300°F for about 6 hours. Add warm water if necessary.

This is a delicious bake beans recipe that I have found only in Michigan many years ago.
