HAMBURGER SOUP
3 lbs. hamburger
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. chili powder
4 tbsp. butter
1 onion, chopped
1 c. celery, chopped
2 c. diced potatoes
4 c. water
1 can vegetable soup
1 can beef noodle soup
1 can Northern beans
1 (12 oz.) can V-8 juice or tomato juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown hamburger in large skillet; drain grease. Add garlic salt and chili powder. Let stand while in large pot; saute onion and celery in butter. Add 4 cups water and potatoes (1 cup chopped cabbage and/or turnips can also be added now, if desired). Add meat mixture, the canned soups and beans, and V-8 juice; simmer 2 hours or longer. If too thick, add more water. Serves 10 or more.

Any leftovers can be frozen for later quick, yummy meals. Serve with cheese and crackers, French bread, spread with butter, and Parmesan cheese. Feel free to be creative!
