CHOCOLATE SUGAR COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter, soft
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. almond extract
1 egg white, slightly beaten
1/2 c. finely chopped almonds
3/4 of 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Combine flour and salt. Set aside. Combine butter and sugar; beat until creamy. Add egg and almond extract, beat well. Add flour mixture, mix well. Divide dough in half, shape into ball and flatten. Wrap in plastic wrap. Chill 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

On floured surface, roll out dough. Cut out 2x1 inch rectangles. Place on ungreased sheets. Brush tops with egg white. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-6 minutes. Cool.

Melt morsels, stir. Spread 1/2 teaspoon on flat side of cookie, top with second cookie. Repeat. Chill. Makes 4 dozen sandwich cookies.
