DANDELION WINE | |
Pour 4 quarts of boiling water over 3 quarts of dandelion blossoms. (Do not pick stems.) Let stand 24 hours, then drain and add 3 pounds of granulated sugar and the juice of 3 large lemons, to each gallon of juice. Put in jugs or large bottles, leaving out the cork. Lay a piece of cheesecloth over the mouth, do not tie. When it begins to work, keep the jugs of bottles filled with the syrup each day, but do not shake jugs or bottles. The syrup is made of 1 cup of sugar to 2 cups of water. When it ceased to work, strain and put in bottles and cork. The process will probably take 6 to 8 weeks. |
