ESTHER WILSON'S SWEDISH
PEPPARKAKOR
 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. dark syrup
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cloves
1 egg
3 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cardamom

Mix in order given. Roll out very thin and cut in favorite patterns and bake in moderate oven 350-375 degrees approximately 10-12 minutes.

Note: These are generally served on a Christmas cookie plate, but are a real treat any time of the year. Decorate with sugar sprinkles.
